Manila Masig Tambayan
The Manila Masig Tambayan

Rightfully considered a landmark as much as the first UP campus, the Masig Tambayan in Manila is one of the most recognizable tambayans in the University. Back in the late 80’s, whatever free space was made useful by the fraternity’s liking. By 1990, the parcel of land that until now is undeniably Masig Territory, the newly built generic tambayan was erected. Situated at the façade of the College of Arts and Sciences, it stands proud a testament of hard work, fortitude and determination. After almost two decades of continuous attempts for deportation and criticism, that couple of square meters of stone benches and metal posts still serves as haven for brothers. A place to laugh, to study or maybe just to pass up time, the Masig Tambayan is like the promise of brotherhood—a simple place yours through life and death.
